Lightning Volleyball Club invites you to try out for 2025-26 Club Volleyball!

If you are interested in playing club volleyball in the 2025-26 season, you are invited to the Lightning Volleyball tryout at Lakeview High School (3744 83rd St, Columbus) on Sunday, November 9th (and Nov. 16th). There is no cost to try out.

The goal of Lightning Volleyball is to foster growth for individual players, by providing added guidance and training to individual skill sets, as well as emphasizing the importance of teamwork and commitment by providing scheduled practices and tournaments.

Tryout Registration is NOW Posted at this LINK. We ask that you fill out and submit the form before the Tryout date. If you are unable to do so, you MUST fill out the form at the Try-out.

This year, Lightning Volleyball will offer a tryout for girls in 9U through 14U age divisions (as defined below):
14 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2011
13 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2012
12 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2013
11 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2014
10 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2015
9 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2016

Tryout times on Nov. 9 will be:
9-under through 11-under - 2pm to approximately 430pm
12-under through 14-under - 5pm to approximately 730pm

A follow-up open gym will be held the afternoon of Nov. 16th to finalize team assignments. Details will be sent to those who make a Lightning team after tryouts. Lightning expects players to commit to at least 75% of practices and tournaments so teams can prepare well together.

Cost for each individual player chosen for a Lightning team for 2025-26 will be $150 for 9u, $275 for players in 10u-11u and $375 for players in 12u-14u. Partial payment will be required by 12/1/25. Full payment will be required by 12/31/25.

*Please note that financial stress should not discourage players from trying out. Scholarships are available.

Team assignments will be finalized by Nov. 22. Tournament schedules will be set by Dec. 4.

Practice: Players will be expected to commit to an average of two practices each week for approximately 90 minutes each practice. We expect players to attend 75% of practices so their teams can have productive preparation for competition.

Competition: We will begin the season in January. We consider the 3rd grade year as primarily developmental, so 9U players will practice regularly and coaches will determine if they are advanced enough to play in a 10U tournament or two. Girls in Grades 4-5 (10u-11u) will attend a minimum of four (4) tournaments and girls in Grades 6-8 (12u-14u) will attend a minimum of three (3) tournaments and they will also compete in the Heartland Winter League [4 Sunday tournaments] and NNV Jr. High [3 Sunday tournaments] as local, affordable options to get an additional 7 Sundays of competition. We expect players to commit to at least 75% of their team’s competitions so teams can be well-prepared.

The Lightning season will generally run from early January through the end of March.
